Julia Thorne Photography: Auckland, New Zealand; Julia’s work in photography has spanned more than two decades and been as diverse in nature as the subjects themselves. Julia began work in daily news journalism and photography and thereafter freelanced in adventure travel, corporate profiles, lifestyle magazine spreads, childrens’ portraits, weddings and public relations. The fine-art work she now creates focuses on "florascapes" - images of flora that isolates and reflects some of nature’s intricacies, fragility and strengths. From a distance, nature often appears simple, but as in human life, the closer we are the more complex and intriguing it becomes.” “In its abstract beauty we often find clarity and peace alongside vibrant and intricate elements - also discoveries in human life.” Limited edition prints are created with traditional film and printed with pigmented inks onto fine-art paper.
